Febr. 8th we visited White Sands which was about 20 minutes from the campground. I have added a couple more campground pictures. And, I've been forgetting to mention that there was a Space Craft RV in the park in Tallahassee Fla. Anyone interested in RV's may like to check them out online. We did; they are impressive.
White Sands is an astounding place. It is so strange how this white place is plopped down between gray, snow topped mountains in a very dusty beige area of the world. The sand is pure gypsum crystal, very powdery, light and white.
The last two photos were taken yesterday morning before we pulled out of the Oliver Lee Memorial Campground, Alamagordo, N.M. We had an easy trip, though 360ish miles yesterday to Tuscon. We are at the Lazydays KOA Resort in Tuscon for a few days of the biggest rock and gem show in the world. I just know we are going to be overwhelmed, but I can't wait! The campground is beautiful and big and it's nice to have electricity and water hook ups again, plus cable t.v. As our friend Erbol would say, we're in high cotton!

    Looks absolutely beautiful! White sands is still on our bucket list. Pictures are great...keep them coming. Yes - its nice to have all the water and electricity you want. LOL. Enjoy Tucson - great park there.

      Unfortunately we were not able to be at White Sands in the evening. The military does regular operations. We were advised to check online before going. I would love to do some star gazing from there! The park here in Tuscon is working out great! Easy access to all the gem & mineral shows.

We spent one day in Gallup, New Mexico. The town is lined with Native American Art Galleries (many are like museums), jewelry fabrication supply shops, and Native American craftspeople. In a supply shop Bob struck up a conversation with another shopper who answered questions about choosing shell material. The mans name is Bruce Joe. He is a well known, accomplished Native American jewelry artist. We also met one of my Native American jewelery heros, Lyndon Tsosie. Lyndon is a award winning jeweler who teaches in workshops and online videos. We moved on to Santa Fe on Friday, March 10. BLM camping reviews for the area mentioned roaming dogs and people- we made reservations at Sata Fe Skys RV park! These photos are from the park. Metal yard art is common here. We have been hiking Heritage sights in the Sedona area: Montezumas Castle, Montezumas Well and Palatki. Above is Montazuma Castle and then Arizona Sycamore trees that look as thought the bark has been removed and the trunks painted white. Montezumas Well is an interesting sight and a relatively easy hike. Yesterday, my horoscope said an intense spiritual experience would be possible for me so I definitely wanted to visit a vortex area. Unfortunately it ended up involving quite a hike. But what a view! Yesterday we visited the Palatki sight. It is awesome to be climbing the base of a few of the tall towers and visit sights that had been inhabited by earliest civilizations of the area. Again the views are breathtaking. Weather has been dictating our travels all along and it continues. A winter storm hit north of here, so we are headed south tomorrow to Quartzite, Az. We hear there is a hot air balloon festival there this weekend.

On The Road Home

We've had a couple family members get in touch and we realized it's been 10 days since the last blogpost. So, catching up. . . Finally! I picture of Bob and Lauren. We stopped to visit Lauren over last weekend. We had a great time doing some antiquing and she and her friends took us out to Toad Sucks Bucks, a Arkansas River bank joint with great steaks and live music. We had a blast. Next stop, Mom's house. Mary lives in Illinois just east of St. Louis. It was a great visit with Mom and Bob's sister Eileen, husband Jeff and grandbaby Preston, but no picture (we did it again!) We are making our way home. Currently at the Kentucky Horse Park Campground where there is a 3 yr. old horse event happening which sounds very interesting. Tonight,Townsend, Tn. where we will be visiting Bob's daughter, Tabetha, husband Jeremy and kids, Ayla and Jayden. We'll head to Raleigh for an overnight to visit Meadow, and Jason and Jess.
