We were surprised by the drive to Bob's daughter, Lauren's house. It is much like the drive up the Blue Ridge to Spruce Pine. Round Mnt. lots are 5 acres, so there is a lot of forest and though not it's prettiest right now Lauren tells us it's gorgeous in the spring and it's easy to see why since there are flower bulbs and perennials scattered around tall trees a fish/frog pond, fences, deck and porch. We took highways from Harvest, Al. to Conway, Ar. Rt. 72 to a loop around Memphis to Rt. 40. It was 8 hrs. with gas and lunch stops. It's hard to believe but Lauren is just 5 miles from 40! An ice storm is predicted for tonight so we're staying put for a couple days. We are mostly comfortable in the RV, but the floor is cold. Bob brought warm slippers and I'll definitely add them next time along with a warm pull over.

Monday night we stayed at the Big Oak Campground in Tallahasee, Fla. Our plans to visit friends in Pensacola, Fla. were scatched when we saw the weather report warning of a potentially dangerous storm moving across the gulf. Instead we headed north to Bob's son, Kyle, and his family in Harvest, Al. We didn't hit anything but a few drops on the trip. Kyle has been showing us the rock highlights of the area. Miss Mary's in Huntsville was awesome! Easily as many stone bead strands as any gem and rock show plus antiques of all sorts. Today, Earth Forged Rock Shop and then the Lowe Mill which is a huge old factory that has been divided up into artist studios. Artist of all sorts and a lot to see. And a Meadery which we had to check out since Bob has been making meade. We spent most of our time with an awesome lapidary and wire wrap jeweler, Louise Fletcher. Three generations of Snow Men, Kyle, Devon and Bob. The Alabama family, minus Devon. Left to right Aiden, S

Visiting Adrian and the Boys

I love this photo of Adrian and the boys. Gorgeous! And the first thing I noticed when we went to their home. Ethan is an awesome hockey player and we had a blast watching him play. He scored and did a fantastic job as a goalie too! We visited a reptile rescue center where the boys were excited to hold an alligator, but ended up holding pythons, too! I love the look on Ethan's face here, but neither he or Caleb were uncomfortable with the snakes. Caleb finally ran out of steam! Adrian and proud Pappa

The Florida Trip

Image
Jan. 17th, We took 17 to the Koa off 95 in Savannah on Tues. It was a long day but we both HATE 95 thru S. Carolina and Georgia. The campground is very nice and very convenient to 95. Jan. 18th, Yikes! Tampa! There are A Lot of people in Fla! We are staying at the Southern St. Petersburg Koa at Madeira Beach. It is a nice campground with a heated pool, mini golf, shuffle board and a few other activities. A pizza food truck seems to pull in every day and Doe Doe's Diner is just around the corner and serves a great breakfast.

Setting up a blogspot this morning. For the last week or so when I first get out of bed in the morning and walk first to the livingroom and then the kitchen to adjust the thermostats, I am aware of the space. I haven't counted the steps across the house but I know it's only two steps maybe three to cross the Rv. I'm worrying a little.
